Newsletter – July 2022

Hi, I hope everyone is having a great summer. Here is your latest newsletter with details about the Scottish RC Champs at Auchlishie in September - lets get lots of teams representing Strathearn there!

It’s been a while since the last newsletter but I hope you are all enjoying getting out and about on your horses this summer and didn’t melt completely in last weeks heat.

We have had lots of lessons, clinics and rallies so far with many more to come. A powercross rally at Inchcoonans was enjoyed by a few and was something a bit different. Erik remains popular and we try to offer a bit of variety with our instructors and venues.

We had a small, but very high quality, team of members competing at the Area 22 competition in June. Thank you so much to all who took part and especially to those who gave up time to help. Susie was a fantastic chef d’equipe on Sunday when the 90 Horse Trials team of Linda, Shannon, Charlotte and Erika took 2nd place as a team and Erika was 7th individually. Alasdair was 6th individually in the 80 Horse Trials.

Special mention must go to Tammy and her little coloured cob, Spider; they were the superstars for Strathearn, coming 1st in the 75cm style jumping, 4th in the 70cm showjumping and 4th in prelim dressage. Very well done!

Next up is the Scottish Riding Club championships, again at Auchlishie Eventing, Kirriemuir. This takes place on 10th and 11th of September and follows a very similar format to the area competition with dressage, riding tests, style and show jumping on Saturday and Horse Trials on Sunday. This time there is a 70cm Horse Trials, so it would be great to have a team in that.

We have already had a bit of interest on facebook and think we are already sorted with a 90cm Horse Trials team which is fab.

We also need a chef d’equipe for each day to look after the Club members and make sure they are in the right place at the right time. And we need to provide helpers on each day of the event in order to have our entries accepted.

There is a post on the Members facebook page, so you can comment on there if you are interested or email Erika at ehay@erhynd.co.uk Entries have to be in by 31st August but I really need to know before that so I can co-ordinate teams and organise the Club entry.

The schedule is on the website and also on our facebook page, so once you have decided what you want to enter and if you require stabling and for how many nights, please let me know. It will be a fun, friendly event and please don’t worry if you’ve never done anything like this before or are worried about letting a team down because everyone is in the same boat, and prizes are awarded individually as well as in teams.

We will try to organise some subsidised training prior to the event with priority given to those who are competing. The Club will also subsidise entries to the tune of £18.50 (the equivalent of one entry on Saturday.)

It’s been a busy old summer for most of us and our four-legged friends. It has been great to get back out and about again and enjoy some Riding Club activities with friends.
Fantastic to see some new faces at clinics, rallies and camp and well done to everyone who has managed to attend – not forgetting a few faithful members who turn up on foot to help out.

Sorry it has been so long since the last newsletter; it was a long, shut-down winter for us all but our wee Club has been busy for the last few months running clinics and training with support from lots of members, both old and new

On that note, a very belated welcome to all new members, it’s great to see so many of you participating and to meet all the new faces both horsey and human.
