I hope this newsletter finds all our members and their four-legged friends in good heart. The Club has had a successful summer so far with the usual variety of clinics and lessons plus a good number of members competed at the recent Area 22 competition at Brechin.
Some of our prize-winners are pictured below! Well done everyone who took part. But a huge well done to Sue, Shonagh, Linda and everyone else who were part of the organising team that made this event such a success. Members, who sacrifice their own chance to ride at these competitions in order to run them for everyone else – it is very much appreciated.

Many thanks to Bridget, who organised a fun pony racing/fitness day at Linfield with Jo Fox and also to Jackie who organised sessions with the mechanical horse, which everyone seemed to greatly enjoy! Also to Linda who again offered her lovely facilities at Linfield for a social hack (see picture below.) No-one can say we don’t offer a good variety of activities!!
Coming up is another Trek session (as demonstrated beautifully by Anne in the above photo.) Also lessons at West Dowald, by kind permission of Yvonne, with a new to SRC instructor, Yvonne McFarlane. The ever-popular Erik and Diana lessons continue at Braefield and Netherton respectively. Keep an eye on facebook, equo and the calendar of events on the website for details. Below are some members cooling off after a hot and sweaty lesson at Netherton with Diana!
This year’s Scottish Riding Club Championships take place on 9th and 10th of September at Auchlishie, with dressage, showjumping, style jumping on the Saturday and horse trials on the Sunday. It would be great to have a few teams from SRC competing at this. The schedule is available to download on the website and entries are open on equo. Just enter whatever you would like to do and we will sort you into teams. As usual, the Club will subsidise one entry on Saturday (as long as you enter two classes) or the equivalent sum for a horse trials entry on Sunday. For anyone not sure about entering this or confused by the number of classes/stabling etc, we are holding a Club Social Evening at Madderty Village Hall on Friday 18th August at 7.30pm. There will be snacks and soft drinks provided but please bring your own alcoholic tipple of choice! The main focus of this evening will be to chat about the champs and encourage people to enter. Please do come along, we are a very friendly club and love meeting new members.
